First impressions: kinda looks like a dive. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place is phenomenal! We ordered a bunch of appetizers and a regular meal - it was all fantastic!

The food was very good, and pretty inexpensive.

We had a nice casual buffet breakfast here this morning. The meats and omelets were delicious, so we're the sweets.

El Tapitio (or El Taps as we affectionately call it) is my #1 choice for Mexican food in Imperial Beach. Over the decades they have expanded their menu and their patio but the authentic Baja Norte fusion of flavor is legendary We try to attend every Taco Tuesday and any other nite the craving for delicious pescado, carne, pollo, tortillas, rice, beans, and salsa calls. The gracious staff always provide service with smile😊

If you drive down palm ave in ib, and want really good Mexican food, this is the place. Family owned, and they put service first. Nice outdoor seating for the summer months, parking is limited, get here early

When we are in Imperial Beach, this is our go to Mexican Food spot. The staff is friendly and the food is always good. The restaurant itself isn't too big, but they do have a nice spacious patio and their prices are good.

Yum! We come here all the time for inexpensive, tasty mexican food. Their salsa is very good, and the patio area is really nice. Fyi you can get the fish tacos grilled instead of fried. Service is decent. Catering is very good and convenient too!

Very hit and miss. Sometimes the chips are stale, sometimes they are fresh. Service is totally out of whack. They will take your drink order and then bring chips and salsa but no drinks. By the time the drinks come, the chips and salsa are gone. Food is okay. The street tacos are good and affordable. This restaurant has been here forever but it could be so much more with some organization and training.

Sunday buffet was great VIP spot to watch the athletes on the bike course for superfrog IM 70.3

Great place for mexican food. I had the chicken quesadilla and 2 carne asada tacos and my fiancé had the burrito and 2 tacos and it was more than plenty of food. Price is very reasonable and everything tasted great. Costumer service needs some improvement, the lady helping us wasn’t very kind and she wasn’t very helpful either. Good place anyways!

Food is home made, tasty. Inexpensive. Friendly staff. But they don't allow dogs on patio, just parking lot side tables.

We stopped for lunch and it was delicious! The patio is perfect and the restaurant is clean. Service was excellent and the food was authentic and flavorful. Try a michilada with your meal, very refreshing with the spicy salsas. The beef tacos were our favorite.

Really nice food! Tried the veggie tacos, the vegetarian torta, and the guacamole. I definitely recommend this place :)

Wow this is good! Was just looking for a quick decent burrito when visiting IB. What I got was wonderfully mesquite flavors along with subtle sauces that still had kick. Love the new design/logo. Definitely coming back.

Food was mediocre at best. Ordered a couple of Margaritas and they were so full of salt, we gagged and had to drink a couple glasses of water to wash out the sodium. How does that even happen. Go across the street for a better all around experience.

This spot is worth trying. They have big portions for convenient rates. Regularly clean and with excellent character. I highly recommend this place.

The tortillas and very fresh. They do not use a lot (if any) salt which was a nice surprise - I needed the sodium break.Pricing is excellent and it appears that they have decent specials; note - they will charge you for more than one cup of hot water with lime without telling you. When I saw it on my bill I asked the waiter and he told me at that time. I advised him he should let the customer know before hand.It was lack luster for me. City Tacos on Seacoast Drive rocks much tastier food.Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Now I know and will doubtfully revisit.

I've been coming here since I was a kid and the food is still outstanding today as it was back then. Was it worth the first place we stopped at after driving 500 miles?, Absolutely!!

Good food and service. My wife and three kids were there on the 1st of Jan at lunch time. We had a mix of breakfast and lunch items and were all satisfied with the delicious Mexican food we had for our first meal of our family vacation in IB. Being we were celebrating a Birthday the pressure to pick a good place was on. We were so happy with our selection of restaurant in a city we were visiting for the first time. We hope to visit IB again and El Tapatio which we highly recommend.

Very good Mexican restaurant, the best I could find on the south side of San Diego. Great outside eating area, and wonderful authentic Mexican food.

We spent the day in Coronado and decided to end the day by driving through Imperial Beach. On the way out my family and I were hungry and we saw El Tapatio. The place is small but very homey. We waited a few minutes to be seated on the patio. The server was quick and attentive. The food came out fast and it was TO DIE FOR!!!! My kids usually complain about something and not one word was uttered. My mother in law loved her enchiladas, and my carne asada steak tacos were bomb! I wish we lived in California so we could visit this place more often.

Easy to spot from a moving vehicle, plenty of parking, adequate seating. Friendly, quick service. Chips and salsa are not brought out to table until you order. Varied menu with vegetarian options for those that don't eat meat. Good portions with fair pricing. Food is good with decent temperatures, but not authentic tasting at all. Also, salsa bowl had hair in it and while it was quickly switched out for a salsa bowl with no hair, this left a bad taste for our first visit.

Hired them to cater our wedding. Everything turned out great. As far as the resturant goes, been going there for 30+ years. Good food but there prices have been going up quite a bit lately. Not quite the bargain it used to be. Still a restaurant I go to frequently and will continue to go . I strongly recommend that you try the beef flautas , huge, meaty and very tasty. 🤨 . 666

Ok so I used to not like this place but wow they have really upped their service and food. They have excellent graphic design now but the prices also reflect that. I love the tacos and burritos a lot here.

This is the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in the San Diego area. The food and service was subperb.

Wife and came to San Diego for the weekend found this spot driving to Imperial Beach. She had the Carnitas, I had the Machaca, both offerings were superb!!!

Slow service but yummy breakfast burrito and good coffee. You can even sit there and eat!
